Open-Mic and Showcase Comedy Night at Rockit Wrigley

Chicago,  IL, July 30, 2010- Come see up-and-coming comedy stars and some of Chicago’s most well known and successful comedians perform on the same stage. After four weeks, the “Rockit Bar & Grill’s Open-Mic Comedy Night” has hit the comedy scene hard, getting upwards of 40 comedians per night signing up to perform five minutes of their best material.

Dara Katz and Ever Mainard, two of Chicago’s up-and-coming female comedians will co-host the event. Katz, from Deerfield, IL, and Mainard, hailing from Texas, keep an overall hilarious and happy room.

This is a very unique comedy environment because Rockit Bar & Grill is a rather swanky and popular nightspot that appeals to Chicago’s young professionals just out of college, making it a great opportunity for young performers to escape the typically grungy comedy scene on Friday night. This open-mic is truly integrating different sectors of young-Chicago, and bringing them together with the lure of free and spectacular entertainment.

A twist on this event this Friday July 30 is that following the open mic at 8:30 will be showcase of 5 amazing Chicago performers, including fan favorites:

One lucky open mic-er will also get the chance to perform in the showcase after the open-mic set.  So if you have jokes, tell them, and get to perform twice!

Open mic sign up begins at 6, Open Mic show 6:30, and the Showcase begins at 8:30 at Rockit Wrigley, 3700 N. Clark.
